Achieving this level of certification required the completion of 733 intensive course units of comprehensive professional training, ensuring that every historical fact, architectural detail, and cultural insight I share is both accurate and deeply researched. Furthermore, my training complies entirely with the European Standard Tourist Guide Training (EN 15565:2008) protocols. Because I am officially certified for multilingual licensed guiding, I am able to lead comprehensive Salzburg City Walking Tours fluently in English, French, Italian, and German, allowing guests from around the world to comfortably and confidently explore the city in their own language.
A Lifelong Passion for Languages and Authentic Storytelling
My journey into the world of professional guiding began long before I officially became a certified Austria Guide. Born in 1974 in Dampierre, a small village in the eastern part of France, my fascination with languages started early. At just 10 years old, I began learning German at school, eventually adding English as my second foreign language and Italian as my third. While my university studies in France provided a strong academic foundation, it was working as a summer tour leader for a French travel agency guiding journeys across Europe that truly ignited my passion. That hands-on experience of interacting with visitors from around the world helped me understand how languages are spoken in everyday life and inspired my lifelong love for guiding travelers.
In 1996, I relocated to Austria. I initially spent my time working for large international companies, but the dream of becoming a tour guide never left my mind. After getting married and raising two sons, I finally decided to follow that calling. In 2016, I enrolled in the rigorous two-year training program to become an official guide. After completing my extensive coursework and successfully passing the official examinations, I proudly achieved my certification in 2018. Today, I work full-time as a licensed local tour guide, taking immense pleasure in welcoming visitors and sharing the city that has been my home for three decades.
Beyond the Script: The Unique Mechanism of a Personalized Tour
Every tour I design is built upon a commitment to an authentic local experience. By keeping our explorations exclusive to small groups or private formats, we create a relaxed, welcoming, and highly interactive atmosphere. You are never rushed. Instead, you are encouraged to ask questions, engage in conversation, and enjoy the sights at your own pace.
Every step of our journey is driven by a passion for unscripted storytelling. Rather than simply reciting memorized dates, I strive to connect you to the fascinating people, historical events, and vibrant traditions that shaped this incredible landscape. My goal is to help you truly understand the character of the city through real stories and local perspectives.
Discovering the Landmarks and Hidden Gems
Our journeys wind through the bustling Getreidegasse, the historic Makartplatz, and the lively Universitätsplatz. We will marvel at the grandeur of the Festival Hall, St. Peter’s Abbey, the Alter Markt, the Mozart Residence, and the sweeping Residenzplatz. As we stroll down Linzergasse and navigate medieval courtyards, I will introduce you to hidden streets and lesser-known viewpoints that reveal the true character of the city. We pay our respects at the Sebastiansfriedhof, the Paracelsus Tomb, the Mozart Family Graves, and the intricate Wolf Dietrich Mausoleum (Gabrielskapelle). We also honor cultural preservation by visiting the Rock Riding School (Felsenreitschule), Nonnberg Abbey (Stift Nonnberg), and the breathtaking University Church.
We will delve deeply into the aristocratic elegance of the region, exploring the magnificent Mirabell Gardens & Palace, complete with the Pegasus Fountain, Zwergelgarten, Heckentheater, the famous Rosenhügel (Do-Re-Mi Steps), and the Grand Parterre. We can ascend the Festungsbahn to walk the panoramic bastions, venturing into the Princes’ Chambers (Fürstenzimmer) and the Golden Hall (Goldener Saal). Further afield, we can wander the Hellbrunner Allee to experience the Mannerist Park, Hellbrunn Palace & Gazebo, and its world-renowned Trick Fountains (Wasserspiele), Mechanical Theatre, and Prince’s Table, as well as the serene Leopoldskron Palace & Lake and the Palace Interior (Festsaal).
